Traditionally MCDM revolves around multi-objective optimisation and decision- support. One step further lies the automation of the decision-making itself, i.e. building an intelligent system which fully replaces the decision-maker. This approach is required in fields where complex MCDM is involved for many independent cases, while the decision-structure is identical. A related aspect is data-mining and structuring the decision-making structure in criteria, objectives and importances. Data sciences (i.e. "big data") could be used to achieve this.
